Was ist Melatonin ???

What is melatonin ???

Today I learned something about melatonin, a hormone that is produced by the pineal gland in the brain and helps to regulate the sleep-keep cycle. It is generally referred to as "sleep hormone" because it plays a crucial role in promoting sleep and regulating the internal clock of the body.

I was surprised when I found out that melatonin production was influenced by the exposure to light, with the mirror rising at night when it is dark and decreasing when it is light. This natural process helps to signal the body, to sleep and wake up at suitable times.

I also found that melatonin preparations are often used to help with sleep disorders such as insomnia or jet lag. However, it is important to use these nutritional supplements only under the guidance of a doctor, as they have side effects and can interact with certain medication.

In addition to its role in promoting sleep, melatonin has been demonstrably antioxidant and can support the function of the immune system. It is also examined for its potential role in cancer prevention and treatment.

Overall, I found it fascinating to learn something about melatonin, and it gave me a new appreciation for the importance of a good night's sleep and the role that hormones play for our general health and our well -being.

Until next time,
